Berezovsky District of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug
Natural attractions:
Berezovsky reserve. It is located 28 km from the village of Berezovo in the valley of the Ob river and occupies more than 43 thousand hectares.
Vogulka reserve. It is located on the path of seasonal migration of elk and reindeer, which was the impetus for the creation of a protected area. The total area of the reserve is more than 64 thousand hectares.
Malaya Sosva reserve. It is located in Sovetsky and Berezovsky districts of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. It occupies over 225 thousand hectares.
The Tykotlova river. The river originates in the Eastern slopes of the Subpolar Urals. The length of the river is 30 km.
Historical and cultural attractions:
Berezovo. The administrative center of Berezovsky district. It is known as a place of exile for many politicians. The associates of Peter I, Prince Alexander Menshikov, Alexei Dolgorukov, Heinrich Osterman were exiled here. In the 19th century, some of the Decembrists were sent here, and at the beginning of the 20th century revolutionaries (including Leon Trotsky) were too. Here is the only monument to Alexander Menshikov in Russia located. Another iconic attraction of the village is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
